How we collect these

We ask every client for feedback after they return, and we publish what comes back without editing it for tone or content. Reviews are attributed to the traveller and dated. Where someone asked us not to publish their name, we have not published the review at all rather than anonymise it.

Portrait images accompanying reviews are computer-generated composites, not photographs of the reviewers. We do that so no client's likeness is published on a marketing page — the words are theirs, the faces are not real people.

They talked me out of the cheaper fare — and were right

I had found a fare about ₹9,000 cheaper and asked them to match it. Instead of matching it they showed me that it had a 55-minute connection at Frankfurt with a terminal change, no checked bag, and no change permission. I took their routing. My original option ended up being delayed that week. That conversation is the whole reason I book through them now.

Caught the problem that got me refused the first time

I had been refused a Schengen visa the previous year and had no idea why. Urban Wings read my old file and found it in about ten minutes — my leave letter said one set of dates and my hotel booking said another. They rebuilt the whole application around a consistent story. Approved in nineteen days.

Our finance team got three weeks a quarter back

We were reconciling around 180 individual expense claims a quarter. Now it is one invoice, coded to our cost centres, and our compliance rate went from somewhere around 60% to 94% because the policy is applied at booking instead of argued about afterwards. Implementation took twelve days and nobody had to learn new software.

They built the trip around my mother, not around a brochure

Travelling with a seven-year-old and my 74-year-old mother meant most itineraries I was sent were simply unrealistic. Urban Wings asked how far she could comfortably walk in a day and built from there — shorter days, lifts confirmed at every station, the rail passes already in our hands. It is the first family holiday where I was not managing everyone.

Rebooked me before I had left the aircraft

My connection was cancelled while I was still in the air. By the time I had cleared the jet bridge there was a message with two alternatives already held and a note saying which one they recommended and why. I have used large agencies that would still have had me on hold at that point.

Forty kilos of luggage and nobody tried to upsell me

I was moving for a doctorate and needed baggage allowance more than I needed a good seat. They found a student fare with 46kg included and an extended change window, and told me plainly that the premium economy I had been considering was not worth the difference for an overnight I would sleep through anyway.

Told me my file was weak before I spent the fee

They looked at my documents and said the application would probably be refused as it stood, because my business income was irregular across the statements and nothing explained why. They told me what to add and we filed six weeks later. Any agency happy to take my money that first week would have cost me the consular fee and a refusal on my record.

The unscheduled afternoons were the best part

Every other itinerary I was quoted filled every hour. Urban Wings deliberately left three afternoons completely empty and told me that was intentional. Those were the days we remember most. They also had the Amber Fort tickets timed so we walked past a queue of about two hundred people.

Landed three hours late at 2am. The car was there.

Diverted to Jaipur, then a long delay, and we finally landed close to two in the morning. I had genuinely written the transfer off. The driver was waiting with my name, no extra charge, and the dispatch desk had already messaged to say they were tracking it. That is the entire product as far as I am concerned.

One driver, six days, one price, no negotiation

I had been warned about the endless renegotiation on road trips in India. There was none. One quote covering the driver, his accommodation, tolls, every state permit and parking. The same driver for the whole six days, which mattered more than I expected — by day three he knew when I wanted to stop.

They told us we were too small for a managed account

On the discovery call they worked out we were doing about fifteen trips a year and said a managed account would not pay for itself yet, and that we should just book transactionally through them instead. They talked themselves out of a retainer. We crossed the threshold this year and there was no question who we were calling.

Six applications, three nationalities, one coherent file

My husband, our children and my mother hold passports from three different countries, and each had slightly different requirements. Urban Wings mapped all six against each other so the funding and the itinerary told the same story throughout. All approved together, which was the only outcome that would have worked.

The number I approved was the number I paid

Every quote I got elsewhere had a "payable at resort" line that turned out to be around forty thousand rupees of green tax and service charges. Urban Wings put the whole landed cost in one figure and then listed separately what was genuinely not included. I checked out having paid exactly what I had budgeted.

Eighty-five people, nine cities, nobody stranded

Our annual offsite pulls people in from nine cities across four countries. Two flights were cancelled the morning it started. Their duty desk had both groups re-routed and had messaged me a revised arrival board before I had finished my first coffee. I never had to tell the room anything had gone wrong.

Eleven people from four cities, one arrival window

A family wedding meant eleven of us converging on Kochi from four different cities on the same evening. They sequenced it so everybody landed inside a ninety-minute window and one set of cars could do all the pickups. The version I had planned myself would have needed four separate transfers.

They pushed back on my own itinerary, and I am glad

I had planned five cities in twelve days. They told me straight out that I would spend a third of the trip in transit and suggested three instead, with the days I saved put into Hoi An. It was the right call and I would not have made it myself. An agency just taking the order would have sold me the exhausting version.

The quarterly review found savings we had missed

The first quarterly review identified that 40% of our India domestic bookings were going out inside seven days at walk-up fares because approvals were sitting in inboxes. They restructured the approval routing rather than lecturing our travellers about booking earlier. Domestic spend dropped 22% the following quarter.

The interview preparation was the difference

I was dreading the US interview. They spent an hour going through exactly what my file said and where the questions would come from, and told me the single most important thing was that my answers matched the documents. It lasted about four minutes and I was calm throughout because nothing came up that we had not covered.

Straightforward, priced honestly, well run

Booked three transfers over a week in Delhi. Fixed price each time, drivers on time, vehicles clean. One pickup was about fifteen minutes late in evening traffic and the desk called me before I had noticed, which I appreciated. No complaints worth making — it simply worked.

They confirmed the access details themselves

My father uses a wheelchair and I have learned not to trust what a website claims about accessibility. Urban Wings rang the properties and the transport operator directly and came back with actual measurements — ramp width, whether the lift took the chair, bathroom layout. Nothing on the trip was a surprise, which is all I ever want.
